Gait Analysis
Carried out by MSK physio Jemma, who has a specialist interest in lower limb related injuries and performance, the gait analysis session includes:
A 60 minute initial session
Comprehensive screening assessment – by observing a combination of functional, strength based, and plyometric movements, this highlights any areas of weakness and helps to guide your exercise programme.
Video analysis of treadmill running – a coaching app is used, which allows us to observe running gait in slow motion, enabling better visualisation of strength, movement and control deficits, and providing measurements of joint angles and stride pattern
Advice and tips on how to modify your gait will be given if needed, based on what is shown using the video analysis and strength testing
An individualised strength and conditioning programme will be provided, based on what is observed in both the video analysis and functional screening assessment.
2x 45 minute follow up sessions
Follow up sessions are recommended
Allows us to provide feedback on any changes made to your gait
Allows us to progress your exercise programme which is important for managing injuries, and improving strength and efficiency for running
Who is gait analysis suitable for?
If you have a lower limb injury such as foot pain, shin splints, runner’s knee, hip pain or low back pain associated with your gait
If you are struggling or unable to progress volume or speed
If you are new to running and would like advice on how to improve efficiency, and therefore reduce injury risk
If you are returning to training after a long absence (3 months +)
If you are noticing performance deficits (hills, speed, finishing pace), and wish to improve your running efficiency and performance
