Emma Pickering

Specialist Physiotherapist

Emma qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in July 2011 from the University of Liverpool. After qualifying she worked in a NHS musculoskeletal outpatients department for twelve months where she consolidated her passion for assessing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Emma then completed her junior training in a rotational position within the NHS gaining further experience in Musculoskeletal but also respiratory, neuro and orthopaedics. Emma progressed to a senior rotational position where she mainly chose to rotate between MSK and orthopaedics. In 2016 Emma commenced a role developing and leading a physiotherapy service within an Occupational Health department where she further expanded her knowledge, treating a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions but also specialised in work related injury, prevention of injury through physical activity, ergonomics/ DSE assessment and fitness to work advice.

Throughout her career Emma has maintained a commitment to ongoing learning and development. She has gained a postgraduate diploma in musculoskeletal medicine, completed training in acupuncture, gained instructor level qualification in clinical pilates as well as attending a host of conferences and courses including tendinopathy management, advanced clinical reasoning, modern exercise prescription and pilates for shoulder rehab.

Outside of work Emma enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two dogs. She enjoys fell walking, skiing, running, growing veg and has recently taken up golf (and drinking gin 🥂😂)
